Funtoo-ng Components

Focused building blocks carrying Funtoo systems work into its next generation.

emerging

Funtoo-ng Components are the next-generation building blocks growing out of Funtoo's systems work. Instead of placing every useful technology under a single Linux distribution, this work is being released as focused projects with their own purpose, documentation, repositories, and release boundaries.

Each component should be useful on its own. Together, they will carry forward the deeper ideas behind Funtoo: understanding the system, making complex workflows approachable, and giving developers practical tools they can shape around their own work.

First Public Component

unroot is the first public Funtoo-ng component. Its design was inspired by fchroot, Funtoo's cross-architecture chroot tool, and extends that idea into a standalone toolkit for entering, modifying, and transporting Linux root filesystems with QEMU integration.

Unroot is a good example of the component model: technology developed for a larger Funtoo effort, refined into an independent project, and released for anyone doing Linux build, packaging, rootfs, or cross-architecture work.

What Comes Next

Additional components will appear here as they reach a useful public boundary. The goal is not to recreate Funtoo as a single monolithic project, but to let its strongest ideas evolve as durable open source tools with clear scope and active development.
